Have you ever wanted to attend the greatest show on earth and see what’s coming next in consumer electronics? Here’s your chance. The Consumer Electronics Association (CTA) represents most all of the tech companies on the planet and owns and produces CES—the most powerful tech event in the world. Started over 100 years ago, CES is the largest show on the planet, with 4500 exhibitors, hundreds of thousands of attendees from 150 countries, and 6000 global media and analysts—including Reboot Media’s Reboot Chronicles Show.

CTA President,  Kinsey Fabrizio, joins us for this episode of the Reboot Chronicles Show with a look into her crystal ball about the future of innovation—like AI, robotics, healthcare, televisions, audio equipment, smartphones, tablets, computing devices, wearables, cameras, video games—and home appliances like washing machines and dishwashers, and much more.

Originally formed as the Radio Manufacturers Association in 1924, CTA has evolved alongside all the technology they showcase. CES is their flagship event and has grown from showcasing televisions to unveiling things like flying cars and robotic caregiving assistants. “It is the global stage for innovation” says Kinsey, where over 4,500 exhibitors and hundreds and thousands of attendees from 150 countries all meet up in Las Vegas to discuss their futuristic ideas. Even if they take another decade to become a reality, or never see the light of day in their showcased form.

Even though CTA produces CES, and it is a hotbed of innovation and networking, it only is 4 days of the year. The rest of the CTA stays busy in a variety of ways that would make all meeting fearing employees sweat. “The other 361 days a year we’re focused on advocacy” says Kinsey, CTA represents other members in the tech industry interests on capital hill with lawmakers and regulators through “positive conversations.” On top of that CTA writes standards, like the standard to put your phone in airplane while mode flying, they also hold the standard for closed captioning for TVs. So not only are they pioneering the future of tech, they are fighting for tech behind the scenes and making sure lawmakers and regulators are informed and growing as well as guiding the future of tech this decade

When it comes to the future of tech in the upcoming decade, there are a few fronts that Kinsey and CTA is fighting on and expecting major change in. One of those fronts is of course the tech side, where one innovation that is “going to take off in the next five years in the home is robotics.” Having a robot in your home that could cook your dinner, do your laundry, or even care for a loved one if you need to leave the house. The other side that CTA is fighting on is advocating for “fair regulation and clear guidelines” finding a balance that other countries have lost either through over-regulating, or not regulating enough.
